Here are some pictures from timber sale that I set up that the loggers are just finishing up. The loggers are using a forwarder to take logs from the woods to the road so the log trucks don’t have to drive across a field to pick up the logs. This one is six wheel drive and articulated. Some are shorter and only four wheel drive. The forwarder uses an extending grapple arm to load the bunks on the back. Forwarders are known by many names: forwarders, pre-haulers, packer backers and short wood skidders.
